FUN, FOOD & EVENTS
Prep Table is first and foremost about our mission to provide dinner and Sunday lunch events for people who will be referred in a number of ways. The cost will be reflected in the prices of meals, paid for by those who can afford to pay. These events will feature music, talks and advice - and will offer both modern and traditional cooking in a chilled, contemporary environment.
The pricing structure is significant in the way it combats the issue of pride and segregation. So here it is: There will be those referred, who cannot afford to pay and are in crisis - they will pay nothing. There will be those referred who are struggling - they will pay a reduced pricing of £4-6 and those who can afford to pay the full price of £8.50-10.00. These full price customers are paying for their own meals and for those who cannot afford a meal. There is no need to declare that a customer is paying for a person's meal, the full price supplements the meals already, this reduces the chances that some can feel as if they are eating as charity. All meals are purchased online, so everyone, regardless of what they've paid - arrives for their meal with the same piece of paper. The costs include a choice of a main meal with sides and a dessert. We believe in discretion and bringing everyone together in the same place, at the same time.
OUR OWN EVENINGS
We host and assist in hosting community and charitable dining and buffet events.
Our own events are unique with the way in which they are priced. Tickets are £6.50 or free for people who live within the community or are referred to us from charitable organisations. They are £12 for everyone else. These tickets are purchased online, so everyone turns up with the same ticket and eat together.
These events are like a big living room for those who come along. Everyone interacts, can have second helpings and feel safe within an escape from their sometimes precarious living arrangements.
We serve up a choice of 3 main meals, desserts and homemade cordials plus teas and coffees. Occasionally we have entertainment but there is always music and boardgames.

During Christmas, we worked with Gamechanger, a community collaboration set up by NHS Lothian and Hibernian F.C which now includes Edinburgh Evening News and Heart of Midlothian F.C. We catered for nearly 200 people who came to watch “It's A Wonderful Life” at Easter Road Stadium. We served American Diner style food such as malt shakes, meat an veggie loaf buns, homemade cinnamon sugar popcorn and nachos.
We also catered for 30 people as part of Edinburgh Development Group's Empathy Meal. We served a course Christmas meal including butternut squash, chestnut and sage crumble, salmon en-croute, mince pie brioche bread and butter pudding and chocolate orange cheesecake. We make everything from scratch.
